Yes Boss!

We’ve had a month of sharing the love and we’d like to end it by showing some appreciation for one of Parkfoot’s key team members – Fas, our Store Manager.

Fas joined Parkfoot in 2004 and when I asked him what he liked about the company, he said it was a privilege to work in a family business that is both professional and fun! When I questioned him about his favourite part of the job, he beamed and said simply: “People”. Both staff and customers are the motivation for Fas to do the best job that he can.

Fas comes from a family of bankers, so he’s great with numbers (and computers and tills) and what a memory too! We were putting out the Easter eggs yesterday and Fas remembered that a regular customer always asked for a specific egg and there it was on the shelf. He’d ordered it in just for her.

There are so many stories about Fas’s helpfulness to everyone but, for example, just the other week he was leaving for home from a long and hard day’s work and noticed a lady walking along the A20 with a petrol can in her hand which ironically she’d just filled up at Parkfoot. Fas immediately stopped and gave her a lift to her car which was at Junction 4 on the M20.

It’s clear to all of us that Fas is a very dedicated manager who works tirelessly, but I wanted to find out more about why Fas’s team thinks he’s the best. It seems everyone finds Fas approachable, patient, funny and easy to talk to. He has great rapport with all the staff who keep Parkfoot going 24 hours a day, every day.

Although Fas may be wearing a mask to reduce transmission of the Covid-19 virus, you can be sure that behind it he is smiling. It’s rare to catch him at a quiet moment, but if you do, his eyes light up when he talks about his family and his love for cricket. Fas was a keen cricketer for Harrietsham and played as an allrounder. At Parkfoot, too, he is the great allrounder, with a huge knowledge of the business, a keen eye for detail and the willingness to support and engage with each member of his team and every customer who comes in.
